Brunswick Residence

A two-storey Toronto condo designed around art, music, and thoughtful downsizing.

Editing What Matters

On this fourth project together, I helped these long-time clients bring a lifetime of collected art and treasures from their travels into a modern two-storey Toronto condo… without bringing too much with them.

Because they’re musicians, the space had to support that. A grand piano anchors the main living area, and a separate music room houses a cello, making music part of the everyday rhythm of the home.

When moving from a larger house, it’s easy to try to keep everything. I encouraged them to be selective. We kept what mattered and let go of the rest.

The walls are intentionally simple and white, creating a clean backdrop for their growing art collection. Every trip seems to bring home another piece, which only adds to the story.

Details matter here. A custom stair runner (a bit of a lucky find) brings in colour and movement, while the bathrooms and bedroom were redesigned to feel calm, cohesive, and quietly layered.

Downsizing doesn’t mean sacrificing. It just means editing… intentionally.
